A simple reason

only sharing this in the hopes that maybe ill convince you to do the same

It was sunday. I just spent a fab. morning with my closest friends at Mission listening to yet another good sermon by Mark. I ditched the gym to shop with Lauren. Found the gift i had been looking for and the leggings i needed to put a dress thats been hanging in my closet to use. I enjoyed a chatty " man meal" at Blue 32 and talked some other best friends into happy hour at Four Peaks to celebrate my last day of
FREEDOM!

it was a normal. wonderful sunday.
As i exited the 101 at university I was stopped by a red light . There was a homeless man probably n his forties. maybe 50's. his sign simply read
Hungry War Vet.
He hid his face behind his sign very discreetly. he shifted his weight from one foot to the other. It was hotter then blazes.

yep. I gave him the only cash I had. 3 dollars and 75 cents.

Bia looked at me .
I'm going to tell you what i told her. and what i tell anyone who catches me doing this.
It's a simple reason. the answer to
" you know they most likely aren't even homeless. do you know how many play that roll and walk away making more then you do in a day"

WHAT IF THEY AREN'T ?

Remember
Matthew 25: 35-40 "‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38 ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ "

I have a theory too. If your not sold on that simple answer.
watch body language. the mans head was down. his face hidden. shifting from foot to foot. to me that says "shame" . He didn't; want to beg. He was a veteran. at one point he was proud. well kept. .. but you do what you have to. and if he wasn't homeless but a veteran then whats a couple dollars for my days of FREEDOM I don't believe we pay them enough anyway. .
and if he was just a good actor, then whats 3 dollars...

last week I heard a story on the radio. A homeless man asked a women for a couple dollars she told him all she had was her credit card. He asked her for that to buy a handful of items. She handed over her card because of his sincere manner and boldness to ask for the card. a little while later the man returned. purchased only the items he mentioned and thanked her. she called her credit card company to confirm and what he said was true.
its sad that we have stopped having faith in one another., are so hesitant to give.

Who will help?

If not us, then who?
