Proud to be an American
A flag appears 'mid thunderous cheers,
The banner of the Western land.
The emblem of the brave and true
Its folds protect no tyrant crew;
The red and white and starry blue
Is freedom's shield and hope.
I remember second grade like it was yesterday. My teacher Mrs Johnson had an unconditional love for her dogs, feeding the homeless and AMERICA. Everything was covered in the flag! or was red/white and blue. WE did a whole production on each branch of the service. I could probably still sing you the songs from each. Plus God bless America. Anyone who had a family member in the service brought them and made them part of the production. she was the definition of HONOR and PRIDE.
she made us PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN.
I'm not typically a political person. I more often then not do not agree with how they spend vast amounts of our money. I believe in helping other countries with disasters, starving, orphaned and diseased but i despise the fact that we seem to neglect our own. Our own homeless. Veterans. Orphaned and Inner city issues.
However Ive always been PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN. we are blessed in this country.
We've never had to fight a world war on our homeland. We have countless men WILLING to sign up to defend millions of us they don't even know. WE have FREEDOMS and SAFETY. we have CHECKS and BALANCES the right of EDUCATION . TECHNOLOGY . OPINIONS ( SPEECH) WE have the opportunities to make differences and Change things. No one is perfect, our government ( both parties) has made mistakes but its like family - you accept it. forgive then figure out how to fix it.
today, however was the first day I wasn't proud to be an American. THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION HAS TO BE OUT OF THERE F****** MINDS!
I understand that the policy that restricts a prisoner from getting abused by refusing any physical contact. - after all we can't stoop to inhuman levels it would make us no better then the evil we trying to get rid of. HOWEVER- our government is putting three marines on trial because the leader, who hung and burned the bodies of their fellow men, was finally captured and during that time was given a fat lip !
So today I wasn't proud to be an American. our government represents us ad that's not how i want to be known. where is there defense? support ? honor/pride ?
that leader deserved a hell of a lot more then that. and our marines deserve a hell of a lot more then being put on trial, with a punishment of possible military imprisonment and dishonorably discharged.
We go in giving respect therefore DEMANDING it back is fair game. after all
" all is fair in love and war "
so today Im proud to be someone that our service men volunteer to protect despite the lack of support, gratitude they often don't receive.
quotes by a Lieutenant Colonel Tim Collins on the war in Iraq.
"We go to liberate not to conquer. We will not fly our flags in their country,"
"Iraq is steeped in history. It is the site of the Garden of Eden, of the Great Flood and the birthplace of Abraham. Tread lightly there."
""It is a big step to take another human life. It is not to be done lightly."
THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU.
