too funny!

" Laugh at yourself and never cease to be amused!"

I love that quote. Even more I Love a good sense of humor. Life is much EASIER when you can laugh. So why the picture. 1. What a good sense of humor this man has when life is rough. admirable! Not what sparked this post however. What did ? My horoscope yesterday . I just shared it with my family. Tears streaming down my eyes from laughing. perhaps Im past tired but I laughed so I'll share.

now keeping in mind that this summer I have to buy
1. a New car /insurance
2. pay rent
3. buy a couch.
4. bought my 100 nursing bag for aug
those are just the BIG things
5. and I stated yesterday to lauren. " Lately I've been dreaming BIG"

It's an inefficient predicament: Right now, you have the vision of an entrepreneur but the funds of a hobo.

the love/ hate continues

Alright! ALRIGHT the honest truth to why I have the hate relationship with the gym is
having to wash my hair more often.
back me up on this ladies!

I was on my game with hitting the classes. Even got myself Mark
a.k.a ' the gym natzi' to text me daily to show up and then kick my butt when i got there.
Problem is Hayley and I are a bit feisty and he listens to us verses winning the arguments.
Needless to say we rocked it till country thunder ! then bombed it.

Two weeks ago I got myself motivated again! thank you required bathing suit season.
so since CT was a fabulous motivator I think I'm going to have an end of summer 80's themed pool party and this will be new motivator. :)
whose coming with me!

the secrets no one tells you about these three classes at the gym
1. Pilates - requires more flexibility then you would expect
2. Zumba - even when you have rhythm you won't in this class
3. Step: people love. so get there early for a spot.

My gym teacher told me to touch my toes. I said, "I don't have that kind of relationship with my feet. Can I just wave?"

this was me in yoga today! :)

giddy!

I have this game I play against myself
It's more of a challenge really
Each time i go to the grocery store I try to out do my savings
from the last trip.
- I know Im to young to be so into this - but it brings me utter happiness when I score big.
and today I scored HUGE!
i was literally giddy all the way home and called my 3 best friends and one old friend ( mike. he my old roomie ,I used to drive him crazy sitting in isles deciding which was the better bargain)
TANGENT..

ok anyways so anyways
First i was extremely giddy from the fact that clinicals ended today !
Then I finally got to stop at the little store on the corner on the way home. ( every wed and thurs. i see the sign for great fruit deals but had yet to have the chance to stop)
well to my pleasant surprise it was a FARMERS MARKET.
Enter giddy reason number two
I LOVE FARMERS markets.
( its one of the things i miss most about visiting my grandma)
so i stopped because they had a sign. 4 artichokes for a dollar. and my brother loves. he has had a rough week so i thought perfect!
well PERFECT indeed.
i picked up
3 one lb boxes of strawberries
2 boxes of blackberries.
2 mangos
1 bunch or asparagus
1 bag of red seedless grapes
4 artichokes
all for the GRAND TOTAL OF.....

SEVEN DOLLARS!

i would have snagged the 8 avocados for a buck and the 10 cucumbers for a dollar if i actually thought i had room in the fridge.

that was giddy moment number 3
fast forward to my productive afternoon where i managed to get my mothers day gift 30% off.
my best friend a baby press for 2 for one
and the wedding present i wanted for the price i wanted thanks to 40% off

where you ask.
Hayley you know!
KOHLS ! :)

to show just how happy i am today - lauren this is for you ;)

Rules of engadgement

recently I've decided to be more open to the "dating game" again However, I'm going to take this moment and admit I'm not one of those people who LOVE the game.

yep game. Its a strategic game or interested and not to interested. thank you vince vaugh for spelling it out

"I apologize to you if I don't seem real eager to jump into a forced awkward intimate situation that people like to call dating. I don't like the feeling. You're sitting there, you're wondering do I have food on my face, am I eating, am I talking too much, are they talking enough, am I interested I'm not really interested, should I play like I'm interested but I'm not that interested but I think she might be interested but do I want to be interested but now she's not interested? So all of the sudden I'm getting, I'm starting to get interested... And when am I supposed to kiss her? Do I have to wait for the door cause then it's awkward, it's like well goodnight. Do you do like that ass-out hug? Where you like, you hug each other like this and your ass sticks out cause you're trying not to get too close or do you just go right in and kiss them on the lips or don't kiss them at all? It's very difficult trying to read the situation.

add in there
A. way to much pressure on the exclusive thing to happen right away.
B. Everyone likes to give their opinions and heed warnings before even asking where you stand in the situation or opposite because your single you get constantly pushed onto
" I have the perfect person for you" - which if they are a friend of a friend puts you in a whole new walking on egg shells situation.
C. last its difficult to tell the genuine from the player these days.

I'll go ahead and be honest.
- I'm a romantic sap- enter my friends teasing me that I love ,<>

the idea of the old fashion dating- first dates, first kisses. flowers and dancing photo booth photos .. lil surprise notes and calls for no reason.. blah blah

Every girl has quick ways to her heart..
3 ways to my mine

flowers for no reason
chivalry!
being game for anything/making me feel like i can take you around anyone.

Now for the real reason wrote the blog - guess you come to notice I tend to go on tangents. anyways

No one ever said dating was easy. First dates are awkward, second dates are expectant and the dates that follow that -- determine if you love or hate the corks and present hundreds of opportunities for missteps

SO DATING 101 :
starts with THE THREE DAY RULE -
sadly i may not like this rule however im one of those that are the reason a guy abides by it.
you call to often or to soon and i loose interest. I doubt your interested and i walk too.. man Im a pain! ( but worth it)

If you call before 3 days you’re too desperate. If you wait too long it shows them, they’re really not important enough to call sooner. This whole dating thing is ass backwards in my opinion. - take me back to the good ol' days

rule 2 - apparently meeting the parents isn't a big deal anymore.. call me old fashion but meeting the parents still seems like a BIG deal. after all whether its quick or a long time before your invited to meet them their opinion counts - its the ultimate make or break deal- at least in my world. after all your family knows you best so who better to help you decide if the "other half" is the right one for you.

3. If its a dinner date don't get drunk! time and place people.

4. Ask questions to. nothing irritates me more then when only one person does all the talking. or worse when you have to be the one to carry the convo. its exhausting.

5. Lear to dance. even if you have two left feet. if your having fun so is she.

the bright side of dating. -
even if the date went HORRENDOUS. it will be a great story later.
and finding the one. well its really all about chemistry and TIMING. so stop focusing on the what if future and enjoy the now.

What was your worst date experience ?

annual event

My second annual event of the year. SALSA FESTIVAL @ tempe town lake was saturday-
I love!
I love both salsas- one i can stuff my face with and the one that spins you around a dance flood.
saturday offered the first - 6 hours of sun. booze and salsa. double bonus its for a good cause. It raises money for hemophilia research. typically every year my work has a booth but for whatever reason this year we did not :( but I don't miss this event so Hayley, I and a big group of friends ventured to mill first for the suns game ( which we are not going to discuss because we lost game 4) and then the festival. The only thing missing this year the mango salsa that won my heart last year !

Something infectious about the spanish culture. We were just discussing at clinicals the other day what fabulous medical people that culture makes because they have immense compassion ingrained in them and are hard workers. Not to mention their food rocks and salsa dancing you can feel in your soul. -

CONFESSION : I LOVE the dip - its both fun and sexy!

a lil PDA

PDA can be for friends - this picture makes me happy. I associate it with the moments in which I'm arms linked with my own friends/family. Its almost always a bursting with excitement moment or a utterly content stroll . either way ill take the moment.

Recently my dear friend Lauren wrote a blog on hand holding. I have to admit it warmed my heart - and reminded me of the last time I really held a lovers hand. - He would always hold it while we drove in the car. which I loved more then the PDA. I can almost feel my giddiness again. such a girl right

anways ..
check out her page
http://cuethesunshine.blogspot.com/2010/03/hand-holding.html

now if I'm holding a hand its often just a few fingers.
A
its less sweaty
B I'm a sag to the bone and well we hate anything that makes us feel like freedom being taken .

it wasn't until a friend of hers left a comment that her and her love link arms.

sticking with their theme of lovers - linking arms I think even surpasses hand holding.

something about the linked arms is sweet.
It sends a message of a unbreakable bond and a fun relationship with a classic touch of a gentleman and a lady.

L.I.F.E

Here's a minor detail about moi' - I'm a huge list maker. To do lists, grocery lists,Christmas lists, who goes to lunch when lists.
Post it notes may have been one of the single greatest inventions in my book
this very simplistic piece of paper helps keep my sanity. Nothing makes me feel more accomplished then a list I can scratch off when I get the task completed.

where am i going with this . good question.
One my best friends Nicole wrote a blog this week on things she wants to accomplish by the time she becomes 30 and she wrote me asking me to make a list. naturally since I'm a list maker i instantly said sure but i must admit coming up with the list wasn't as easy as I originally thought.

Here it goes
1. learn to cook, really cook
2. Go on a mission trip to another country - my hearts always pushed for Africa but anywhere will do.
3. Volunteer more
4. Backpack Europe and see Ireland
5. read the bible from cover to cover
6. sky dive
7. Do something with my photography passion
8. Learn to play an instrument again
9 see bon jovi every year until he quits
10. ride a horse- but I mean run, be in control verses riding on one that's done the trail so many times i could close my eyes and it would know the way
11. be fluent in sign language
12. volunteer at a church or somewhere as an interpreter
13. learn to drive stick shift but on a rd not just in a parking lot
( though i appreciate your attempts Mikey )
14. Make a difference in a complete strangers life
15. hike the grand canyon
16. Be married and thinking about children ( at least )
17. a serious road trip with my closest girl friends
18 Experienced Vegas at New years
19 Be working on my masters in nursing ( so i can teach one day )
20. Be keeping a journal of patients who made a difference in my life
( hooked on this book called the scalpel and the soul right now)
21 Be living on my own
22. Have a new car
23. Be at a job I love.
24 have had my hair long - mermaid style as heather calls it
25 have attempted a garden
26 done the wince country bike tour with Lauren and Hayley
27 white water raft again on a more intense river
28 bought a mac lap top

I leave you with this as the reason for her wanting the list.

"in the end,
it's not the years in your life that count,
it's the life in your years.

~ Abraham Lincoln ~

so years ago I made this list - things I have realized in my twenty + years

1. F.A.I.T.H is the most important thing. - its the one thing that will get you through everything.
pray. god listens.

2" gut feeling"- your intuition. listen to it. - trust that you may, with out explanation , just know.

3. it takes years to build up trust and only one lie to loose it.

4. True friends are hard to come by. make sure you let only the right ones walk out of your life. or walk back in - you'll know . - A true friend is always there. no matter the time. or how far. or how much they have to drop in that moment.. . aren't afraid to tell you the truth . and will always be supportive whether they agree with you or not. --- everyone should have " a person" .

5. You let your family get away with more. . no reason behind it.

6. Everyone has there own problems. they may not view them as intense as your own but it doesn't mean they are less difficult to deal with .

7. The hardest thing you will learn is how to say goodbye.

8. Love requires you to forgive , a lot.
forgiving doesn't mean you have to forget. - just makes it easier.

9. Love may not always be enough. ---everyone idea of love is different.

10. dying of a broken heart or lack of hope is possible.

11. not knowing is the worst feeling.

12. Sometimes the plan doesn't work out. & neither does the back up plan. That maybe its better to skip the plan entirely!

13. maturity does not go hand in hand with age.

14. Life is much sweeter when you ENJOY your job.

15. LAUGH! as often as possible.
" you never worked so hard that milk came out your nose! "

16. Money can't go to the grave with you. So Take as many vacations as possible. Play as much as you can. -

17 when bad things are occurring remember " bad things happen in threes. gives you a end point." my mom

18. The best way to overcome a fear. Face it!

19. ACTIONS! will always speak louder than words.

20. improv is a talent

21. its important to know yourself and love who you let yourself be.

22. helpful motto when all else fails. sleep.

OK Nicole - I did your list. now do one of the things you have learned in your 20 + yrs.

(sigh)

hello spring break ! I've been waiting for you

A rough weekend at work. few trips to the gym, 1 crazy phys teacher, 2 meetings. and 3 exams later and this week is over!

OK
I'm going to toot my own horn here for a moment and update all of you that I have failed to see or talk to since the 12 days of stress started.

Monday was my second BIG exam for nursing school. I rocked it. 95% ( toot toot and a shout out to all who quized me) the whole middle table rocked this exam - we are all very proud - Thank the man upstairs or I would have been really pissed for locking myself in the house the entire weekend for nothing.
wed. and today were the practicums ( the actual demonstrations - vitals and medications). Now I know you think well piece of cake but you haven't dealt with Alfreda Morales she helps you out in no way shape or form. - pretty sure only my nursing crew will understand this to its completeness but you get the point.

Now I'm not sure I can articulate the awful feeling between nervous/anxious/terrified and ready I felt before each practicum. Especially today's. AWFUL!
( if you didn't pass practicums you were out of the program! )
but deep breath out. Its now spring break and I wont worry about the last two until closer to Monday the 22. ( in which the prayers, fingers crossed and wish upon starts are required of all my friends AGAIN)

so hello spring break I've been counting down for you.
The week looks something like this. burning a CT CD as we speak ! STOKED. about to go organize my bill statements to file since my taxes are complete and do some homework for the physc lecture I love being responsible ! and tonight. FAM night. its my fathers birthday. :) cheers to another yr to a man i wish everyone could know.

then work a couple days. going out all weekend! I have a gym session with a trainer sat... I never work out on sat so this should be interesting. SHOPPING :) -
Sean scored me and Hayley tickets to the game Sunday night!
one day I don't plan on exiting bed ! you will be my favorite I think. Hopefullly one of the days ill get to go to the movies with coco since Friday fell threw.
WED! ST PATTY'S DAY and THURSDAY ERIN ARRIVES ! ( Lauren if I were you I would be doing a heal click! lol )

hope all of you have a fab week as well. AND this is my week to see EVERYONE! so if you have missed me book now ;)

and the award goes to.......

You know you have the best friends when they promise during commercials they will quiz you so you can still study AND come over!
Thanks for the love Franke's! and congrats Stephen on beating me ( though I had an impressive come back there for a min. )

APPLAUSE. APPLAUSE. APPLAUSE!

I may have lost the pot at the Franke's OSCAR party HOWEVER, Sandra Bullock WON! so I was ecstatic. I just adore her. She is beautiful. Her speech was one of the best that night and who else fell in love with her hubby and his watery eyes during her acceptance speech!

BEST MOMENT OF THE EVENING STILL GOES TO THIS CONVERSATION

set scene : Nicole and I were sitting on the couch Micha is between us. We are watching the red carpet/interview part of the Oscars before the award show actually starts.

Me: Wow she looks really good ( big surprise I can't recall who I was referring to)
Micha : turns to me and states " you look good "

LMAO!! without fail! I always get the best compliments and excitement to see me from Micha Franke

Mi Amour

( because its funny - not that it relates to the rest of this tangent)

I'm a big believer in signs and I have impeccable intuition if I would just listen to it more. something tells me write a blog about the Five languages of love written by Gary Chaptman.
why... not sure but all week on the radio they kept referring to this theory. Then today in class we discussed how people react differently/handle things in various ways and finally, Shabu's latest blog was on " the one that got away" - I'm good at people. And I have a strong opinion if you understand why someone does something or feels a certain way then communication is TEN TIMES easier. we all heard " the secret to making any relationship work is COMMUNICATION ( which ties into understanding)
Now I've read this book but if you haven't I highly suggest you pick it up. But here's the gist. .

# 1 Words of Affirmation

"Actions don’t always speak louder than words. If this is your love language, unsolicited compliments mean the world to you. —hearing the reasons behind them sends your spirits skyward. Insults can leave you shattered and are not easily forgotten. "

#2 Quality Time

" nothing says, “I love you,” like full, undivided attention. Being there for this type of person is critical, Distractions, postponed dates, or the failure to listen can be especially hurtful. "

# 3 Gifts
"Don’t mistake this love language for materialism; the receiver of gifts thrives on the love, thoughtfulness, and effort behind the gift. the perfect gift or gesture shows that you are known, you are cared for,A missed birthday, anniversary, or a hasty, thoughtless gift would be disastrous—so would the absence of everyday gestures. "

#4 Acts of Service

anything you do to ease the burden of responsibilities weighing on an “Acts of Service” person will speak volumes. The words he or she most want to hear: “Let me do that for you.” Laziness, broken commitments, and making more work for them tell speakers of this language their feelings don’t matter.

Last but not least
#5 Physical touch
isn’t all about the bedroom. A person whose primary language is Physical Touch is, not surprisingly, very touchy. Hugs, pats on the back, holding hands, and thoughtful touches on the arm, shoulder, or face—they can all be ways to show excitement, concern, care, and love. Physical presence and accessibility are crucial, while neglect or abuse can be unforgivable and destructive.

the cool thing to this is not only do you feel most loved with a certain language but you show your love by one too.
check out what it says you are. I think i could safely guess what most of my close friends are....

http://www.5lovelanguages.com/assessments/

I'm not sure i totally agree with mine. it said words of affirmation is my highest score but I'm a big believe actions speak louder so I say the second highest of quality time and physical touch. but....

SHHH...

GOAL: TO find one thing each day that gives a sense of quiet in a crowded day .

It wasn't until yesterday at 3:30 P.M when I arrived home to an empty house, flopped down on the couch, shrugged off my shoes and decided to indulge myself in watching the episode of Grays Anatomy that I missed Thursday and a quick nap (Mariah concert with the Anderson's was at 530 ) that I realized what I had been missing. What was fueling my anger/irritated feeling. SILENCE - " me time"

In past week or so the only time I was alone ( not even acknowledging the phone) was when I was sleeping. This morning i woke up in much better spirits. It was a rainy day with beautiful skies.

It's funny how fast life comes at you. How much responsibilities dominate your time. I'm not even a mother or a wife yet so I've only grazed the tip so more power to those who have that on their plate along with everything else. I often joke " when there is another day added to the week we would all be golden" - meaning if I just had one more 24 hr period I would get everything done and have time to squeeze more of the stuff 'I'd rather be doing' in. However, if there was another 24 hrs would
' what I'd rather be doing' be what I filled it with ?

I enjoy my life. Nursing school is intense but taking it one day at a time makes it less overwhelming. Today work went smooth. I wasn't as tired as I expected to be after only 4 hrs of sleep. I managed to cross off 5 things on my to do list, catch an amazing sunset, see my aunt and eat dinner with the parentals.
( pizza of course - Drake routine. ) Now it time for audio lectures and vocab assignments.
Then a quick to do list for the week. quiet prayer and bed.

word to the wise. Make time for the quiet moments .

How much proof do you need

God is good.

Just because you go to church it doesn't mean your a person of god. Just because you don't attend a church doesn't mean your faith isn't as strong as someone who does.

worship is my favorite part of attending church. A night devoted to it. a good Thursday evening. Good to see you Frankes , j. young and the Ayalas !

Time builds all testimonies.
I know mine-I'm curious, what is yours
